Homeworld

The Homeworld Chronicles are a series of science fiction movies taking place at different points in the future.  There are three time periods with three movie trilogies taking place in each one, the first, the Terran Period starts in the recent past and goes roughly 30 years into the the future, the second, the Solar Period, takes place two hundred years in the future and features humanity colonizing the solar system, the third, the Galactic Period, takes place 4000 years in the future and features and interstellar war between various alien species.

The series will attempt to maintain some level of realism, though a major theme is to create a mythology so in that way some liberties will be taken to tell a good story.  However, things like faster than light travel/communication or teleportation won't be possible.  This means in the far future time period travel between worlds can sometimes take more than 100 years, however the characters have been made effectively immortal through nanotechnology and so don't see this travel time as being a big deal.

Each of the time periods has a different theme, the Terran Period focuses on earth as a post scarcity society struggles to emerge from capitalism.  The Solar Period is focused on humanities efforts to colonize the solar system.  The Galactic Period takes places in a far distant future were humanity has made contact with various aliens species and has become interplanetary.
